The Royal Blue Dove Foundation 501(c)3​

The Royal Blue Dove Foundation is the 501c3 organization of Sigma Phi Zeta chapter. Established in August 2006, its purpose is to award scholarship grants to worthy students for the pursuit of higher education; to conduct community outreach service programs that will aid in the educational and vocational improvement of individuals and in community living standards and to engage in events that will aid in the development of women.

The Royal Blue Dove Scholarship promotes educational excellence by awarding scholarships to graduating seniors from local high schools in the Lake County area. We recognize those young women who have maintained an excellent scholastic record while demonstrating concern for others by participating in community service related activities.

The scholarship application process for 2021 is currently in progress.

Students applying for the Royal Blue Dove Scholarship must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Must be a graduating "Female" senior

  • Must have an overall GPA of 2.50 or higher

  • Must be a US Citizen with residency in Lake County, IL

  • Must be able to document college/university acceptance for 2021-2022

  • Student must attend annual scholarship fundraising event where award will be presented.*
    *Note: Scholarship event may be virtual due to pandemic concerns)
    (Non attendance must have an emergency or prior approval)  Scholarship check will mail directly to the university/college with completion of documentation: (Student’s full name, student ID#, name/address of financial aid office, and confirmation of college enrollment).

  • Completed Application Postmarked or emailed by: February 8 ,2021 (Incomplete applications will Not be accepted in the selection process)

Zeta Amicae of Waukegan Educational Scholarship Application

The Zeta Amicae Scholarship will be awarded to a woman age 19 - 25 who is furthering her education towards a college degree or trade school certification. This scholarship will be a one-time awarded scholarship to be applied towards the tuition for the 2021-2022 school year. Scholarship may not be carried over to another school year's tuition.

The 2021 Alfred Clark, Jr. Educational Scholarship Application

Mr. Alfred Clark, Jr. was employed by North Chicago School District from 1973-2003. His career started as a mathematics/science teacher and he served the district as dean of students, football and track coach, athletic director, assistant principal, director of adult education and an associate superintendent. He loved and had great admiration for students at NCCHS!

In honor of his legacy, his lovely wife and our sorority sister Donna Clark decided to create an educational scholarship to award a worthy North Chicago Community High School senior (male or female). The student applying for this application, would need to write a one-page experience with a signature from a parent, relative, neighbor or friend who attended NCCHS 1973-2003 and has had an experience with
Mr. Clark. 


Must be a North Chicago Community High School Senior; Male or Female.

SPZ Celebrates Finer Womanhood in the Community!

Meet the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Sigma Phi Zeta Chapter of Waukegan, IL


A Finer Woman is someone who epitomizes the true ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She is seen by all as a leader and sets the example of a true woman of excellence. She is strong and principled and demonstrates great moral character. Finer women do not degrade other women yet seeks opportunities to uplift every woman to her true measure of brilliance. With this in mind, the women of Sigma Phi Zeta conduct themselves in a manner that represents the positive standards of the organization, and throughout the month of March, we will celebrate and showcase the women we feel exemplify the Finer Womanhood characteristics in the Lake County community, as well.

Annual Lake County Poetry and Prose Competition

Lead the coordination of this event and key in attaining sponsorship to reward the winners with cash and awards, since 2012.  This outreach program is designed to give High School students in Waukegan, North Chicago and Zion communities, the opportunity to express themselves through poetry and prose. Pre Covid 19, the program attracted from 100 to 200 students annually.  Bonnie’s goal is to expand the program to other Lake County communities. Mentoring Youth Participating in Tenth Dem Internship Program

Co-chair of this Non-for-Profit organization and currently manages the Waukegan Office and has managed other satellite offices as well.  Her role includes, but not limited to, interviewing potential candidates, mentoring the interns and working with the Executive Committee for fundraising events.

Instrumental in Organizing and Raising Funds to Incentives the Youth

Spearheads the annual youth incentives and awards for First Baptist Church Christmas Program in North Chicago, IL, where youths from surrounding communities participate.   Raises funds for Back to School Events and is recognized as a strong supporter to the success of the program.

Coalition to Reduce Recidivism

Actively work with this committee to reduce the rate of convicted criminals to be repeat offenders.  The program is designed to address the needs of citizens while incarcerated, as well as, to help them when they are released.

2021 Finer Womanhood Schedule of Events

Finer Womanhood is defined as, “distinguishing characteristics of a woman, one superior in kind, quality, or appearance; marked by or affecting elegance or refinement.”

The ladies of Sigma Phi Zeta Chapter are excited to present to you the 2021 Finer Womanhood Month. While this past year has been nothing normal, our Fall 2019 Intake Class wanted to create a Finer experience that any "Finer" woman can enjoy and participate in throughout the month of March.
